about RMC
Clinic History
Rocky Mountain Cardiology has been a major player in Boulder County's cardiac care since the early 1980's when Dr. Jonathan Ward, in conjunction with the local medical community and Boulder Community Hospital, helped pave the way for the county's first catheterization lab in 1984. As the county has grown, Rocky Mountain Cardiology has been there every step of the way:
helping other county hospitals (Avista Adventist and Longmont United) to develop their heart programs
establishing full-time, fully-staffed clinics in Boulder, Longmont and Lafayette
growing its physician/provider staffing and necessary support staff to better serve its patients
investing in the latest technology and diagnostic tools, and
not only meeting the county's cardiac needs, but fulfilling its commitment to being the pre-eminent provider of cardiac care in the Boulder area.
Cardiology Services

Rocky Mountain Cardiology's physicians and providers can assist you in meeting all of your cardiology needs.

Rocky Mountain Cardiology's cardiologists diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease and hypertension. We provide non-invasive tests such as treadmills, electrocardiography (EKGs), echocardiograms, nuclear stress tests, coronary angiography and heart scan calcium scoring and non-invasive angiography.

At Rocky Mountain Cardiology we provide invasive diagnostic procedures such as cardiac catheterization, balloon angioplasty, stent placement, and perpheral vascular studies.

At Rocky Mountain Cardiology we work with patients to prevent disease through lifestyle changes that impact a person's risk factors, and coordinate rehabilitation after a heart attack or development of heart disease.

Rocky Mountain Cardiology's Electrophysiologist (EP) has received extensive additional education in diagnosing and treating problems related to the heart's electrical system. He inserts pacemakers, implants cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) and performs electrophysiology studies and radio frequency catheter ablations.

Rocky Mountain Cardiology's midlevel providers (Nurse Practitioners and Physician’s Assistants) work in collaboration with our cardiologists in performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medication and supervising exercise and nuclear stress tests.
